Faulty or Incorrect Goods

Consumer Rights Apply

Where Australian Consumer Law applies, your statutory rights are not removed by this policy.

Change of Mind

No General Return After Dispatch

We do not offer a general change-of-mind return once a container has been dispatched.

Product Problems

Contact Us Promptly

Contact us if your container is incorrect, damaged beyond its stated condition or otherwise has a problem.

Important

Shipping containers are large, heavy products. Do not arrange your own return transport before contacting us. If a return or collection is required, the appropriate transport arrangements should first be agreed with Shipping Containers Pty Ltd.

01

Australian Consumer Rights

Where Australian Consumer Law applies to a purchase, products and services may come with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded, restricted or modified by this store policy.

The remedy available for a product problem depends on the circumstances and whether the problem is considered major or minor under applicable law.

Statutory Rights

Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict or modify a consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.

02

Container Condition

Shipping containers may be sold in different conditions, including new, single-trip and used.

  • New or single-trip containers may still show normal handling or transport marks.
  • Used containers may show dents, scratches, previous markings, repairs, surface corrosion or other evidence of prior use.
  • Known defects clearly disclosed before purchase form part of the agreed description of the product.
  • Other undisclosed problems may still give rise to remedies where applicable consumer guarantees are not met.

Customers should read the individual product description before ordering.

03

Change of Mind

Shipping Containers Pty Ltd does not provide a general change-of-mind return once a container has been dispatched.

This includes situations where a customer:

  • No longer requires the container.
  • Finds a cheaper product elsewhere.
  • Orders the wrong size or type.
  • Changes their intended use after purchasing.
Change-of-Mind Returns

No general change-of-mind returns are accepted after dispatch. This does not affect applicable rights relating to faulty, incorrect or otherwise non-compliant goods.

04

Cancellation Before Dispatch

If you wish to cancel an order before dispatch, contact us as soon as possible.

A cancellation request may be considered if the container has not yet been dispatched and significant order-related costs have not already been incurred.

Whether a cancellation can be accepted may depend on:

  • Whether the container has been specifically allocated or sourced for the order.
  • Whether transport has already been booked, paid for or commenced.
  • Whether modification, preparation or other custom work has begun.
  • Whether reasonable third-party costs have already been incurred.

Where a cancellation is accepted and reasonable non-recoverable costs have already been incurred, those costs may be taken into account where legally permitted and will be explained before the cancellation is finalised.

05

Cancellation After Dispatch

General change-of-mind cancellation is not available after the container has been dispatched.

If you contact us after transport has begun, we may discuss whether redirection or another practical arrangement is possible.

Transport or other costs already reasonably incurred may remain payable where the request is unrelated to a product fault or other applicable consumer right.

This section does not limit rights relating to faulty, incorrectly supplied or otherwise non-compliant goods.

06

Custom & Modified Containers

Containers sourced, prepared or modified to specific customer requirements may not be suitable for resale to another customer.

Cancellation may therefore not be available once custom sourcing, fabrication, painting, installation or other agreed work has commenced.

Any deposit, custom-work condition or known non-recoverable cost should be stated in the relevant quotation or order agreement.

These conditions do not remove consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

07

Damaged, Faulty or Incorrect Products

If you believe the container supplied is incorrect, damaged beyond its stated condition, materially different from the product description or otherwise has a problem, contact us as soon as reasonably practical.

To help us review the issue, please provide where possible:

  • Your name and order or invoice number.
  • The container number or other identifying information, where available.
  • A clear description of the issue.
  • Photographs or video showing the problem, where appropriate.
No Arbitrary 48-Hour Cut-Off

We encourage customers to report visible issues promptly, but this policy does not impose an arbitrary 48-hour deadline that removes rights available under applicable consumer law.

08

How Returns Are Arranged

Because shipping containers are large and require specialised transport, customers should contact us before attempting to return a container.

STEP 01

Contact Us

Send your order details and an explanation of the issue.

STEP 02

Assessment

We may request photographs, information or reasonable access to assess the container.

STEP 03

Remedy or Transport

If a return, collection, repair, replacement or refund is appropriate, the next steps will be arranged with you.

09

Return & Transport Costs

Return and collection costs depend on the reason for the return and the rights that apply to the particular transaction.

Change of Mind
No general change-of-mind return is available after dispatch.
Accepted Pre-Dispatch Cancellation
Reasonable non-recoverable transport, sourcing, modification or third-party costs already incurred may apply where legally permitted.
Faulty or Non-Compliant Goods
Where applicable consumer law requires collection or reimbursement of reasonable return costs, those obligations will be honoured.

Do not arrange independent return transport unless this has first been agreed with us.

10

Major & Minor Product Problems

Where Australian Consumer Law applies, the available remedy may depend on whether the product problem is major or minor.

For a major problem with goods, a consumer may have the right to choose between a refund and replacement.

Where a problem is minor, the supplier may generally have an opportunity to provide an appropriate remedy within a reasonable time.

Each claim will be considered according to its circumstances and applicable legal requirements.

11

Situations Where a Consumer Remedy May Not Apply

Depending on the circumstances, a consumer guarantee remedy may not apply where:

  • The customer simply changed their mind.
  • The product was damaged through misuse, neglect or unauthorised modification after delivery.
  • The customer was clearly informed about the particular defect before purchasing.
  • The product was used in a way that caused the problem.

An unrelated defect that was not disclosed may still be considered separately.

12

Delivery & Site Access Issues

Customers are responsible for providing accurate information about the delivery location and known access restrictions before delivery.

If delivery cannot be completed because of inaccurate site information, blocked access or another customer-controlled issue, additional transport charges may apply.

Any additional delivery or re-delivery charge will be communicated before another delivery is arranged.

This does not remove rights relating to a faulty, incorrect or otherwise non-compliant product.

For further information, see our Shipping & Delivery Policy .

13

Proof of Purchase

We may ask for reasonable evidence that the product or service was purchased from Shipping Containers Pty Ltd.

Proof of purchase may include:

  • Order confirmation.
  • Invoice or receipt.
  • Payment record.
  • Other reasonable evidence of the transaction.
14

Refund Method & Processing

Where a refund is approved or legally required, it will generally be returned using the original payment method unless another method is agreed with the customer.

We will process an approved refund as soon as reasonably practical after the appropriate remedy has been confirmed.

The time taken for funds to appear in your account after processing may depend on your bank, payment provider or card issuer.

Refund Timing

We do not advertise an artificial fixed banking timeframe because processing times can differ between payment providers.
